Welcome to Waiāhole Elementary
A special place in the back of Waiāhole Valley

Waiāhole Elementary is an innovative learning community for keiki in
Pre-kindergarten through Grade 6

Students arrive each morning filled with curiosity and enthusiasm. A typical day might include learning ʻoli, taking a huakaʻi to the waʻa, solving math puzzles, and more! Every day is an exciting adventure, and the warm and supportive community of teachers and partners helps our keiki learn about themselves in deep and meaningful ways.

Waiāhole was founded in 1883 making it one of the oldest schools in Hawaiʻi

Today, we continue in our important mission as the foundation of your keiki's learning journey.

Mauka-to-Makai Project-Based Learning

Grounded in ʻāina, our instructional approach is project-based, small by design, and tailored to the individual needs of our students based on the level of the support required.

Waiāhole fosters aloha, kuleana, and pono in students through a rich curriculum built around projects that incorporate our natural environment, from mauka to makai.

At Waiahole Elementary, we strive everyday to create a rich learning environment rooted in our core values of pono (righteousness), kuleana (responsibility), and aloha (love and compassion).

These core values shape how we teach, learn, and interact, as our students learn to lead with empathy, think critically, and care for the world around them. Guided by the spirit of our logo and the ʻāina that surrounds us, we nurture the next generation of learners, leaders, and stewards.

This video showcases the culminating project of our Grade 2 and 3 students, who spent a semester learning about what makes Waiāhole special. Through storytelling, visuals, and their own voices, our keiki celebrate the heroes of our valley—people, places, and practices that reflect the values of pono, kuleana, and aloha.

Their work is a tribute to the ʻāina they call home and a reflection of the learning, pride, and pilina they are building as part of our Waiāhole school ʻohana.

Welcome To Waiāhole Elementary School

At Waiāhole Elementary School, it really does take a village to help raise and support our keiki together.  I am so honored and privileged to have an ʻohana and community that help us to support our keiki and school. As the school year comes to a close, I just wanted to take some time to highlight some of our amazing activities and events that happened this school year.
